USS Cassin

Description[]

The Cassin class destroyers were a new approach to destroyer construction and were larger, more powerful and heavier armed than the preceding classes. Not only was the number of torpedo tubes raised to eight, but they were also the first destroyers to carry the new 4" gun. The second batch of four ships with the lead ship USS Aylwin is sometimes regarded as a seperate class. All ships entered service between 1913 and 1915.
